Interstitial logophagosis for its own sake

Welcome to the investigative portion of the hypomnema. Like an interstitially logophagotic mushroom spore culture, my notes and ideas expand from the textual documents which I consume, transforming into intertextual mycelia fueled by and in turn fueling fungal gas production, comprising of speculation, emergent systematization, and hypothesizing. In this record of records, one may find commentarii on articles or books concerning though not limited to:

• social_science : psychology , psychiatry, psychopathology , sociology
• philosophy : metaphysics , epistemology , ethics
• musicology : music_theory , musical_notation , guitar
• art : visual_art ( sketching , drawing , rendering , lighting )

There are many other things I am interested in, but so far these are what I’ve focused on–in the future, this list may get longer. Throughout my notes, I make the effort to cite my sources when appropriate–which is fairly easy to do most of the time if only due to the fact that many of my notes are based on, again, my consumption of particular textual documents. Worst case scenario, if there are no citations there will at least be a bibliography.

The emergent system of prosthetic memory

A quick explanation of the organization of all this research: all of my notes directly summarizing, commenting on, or launching off a particular quote or set of quotes from a given textual document are generally found within annotations herein, while insights are meant to focus on exploring, explaining or reasoning through, an idea, thought, or thesis that emerged from a cluster of related notes, typically those found in annotations. Finally, synthesis comprises of three types of notes:

• What I like to call “cheat sheets,¨ which are either bullet-point comprehensive summaries of the theoretical or methodological foundations / assumptions of a field or frequency-based tables of particular procedures common to, or of a protocol essential for, a given practice or program. The music theory cheat sheet and visual art cheat sheet are good examples of cheat sheets.
• Notes that are organized as tips & reminders, such that they provide–well–tips and reminders based on knowledge of common problems, solutions or procedures for a particular goal domain. The visual art tips and reminders note is an exemplar.
• Notes that are closer to being drafts, outlined or in paragraphed prose form, of what would otherwise be a blogpost. This may overlap in kind with notes that could be found under insights–the difference being that notes of this kind found under insights typically have either a far narrower scope, favoring topics rather than theses or hypotheses, or are only meant to clarify rather than defend or justify a thesis or hypothesis when that is the provision.
